What does "to special order" mean?
It means that I will not be ordering those models for stock - if you want them then you must order them specially. This is because I think the models may have limited appeal (obscure railroads), locos have "fantasy" paint schemes/are not dcc ready or I know they are not an accurate representation of the prototype. Even if a product line is not shown as "special order" there may be some products within the group that I will not stock for those reasons. With new releases it is always best to reserve them so you get what you want.
Why should I reserve new models?
To ensure you get what you want! This is because manufacturers now tend to produce only the quantities that have been ordered by their wholesalers. Sometimes new items are sold out as soon as they become available as happened with the Athearn UP Turbine.
Do you accept orders for any items not in stock?
Yes, I am happy to order anything for you that I do not have in stock provided it is still available at the supplier. This includes anything in the Walthers catalogs. Delivery time may be several weeks. Please always quote catalog numbers if you can so you receive the correct item!
Do you require a deposit?
No, I do not usually request a deposit if you are ordering a new release or something that is not in stock. However, I must have your full details on file: name and address, phone number, email address, and full credit card details. On BRASS models I will require you to pay a deposit when the US importer tells me the model is available.
How do I order?
You can order by phone or email or even by letter. Phoning is often best if you have queries as they can be answered immediately. I will need your address and credit card details. For security reasons it is suggested you phone me with your credit card information. Please note this information is not kept on a computer.
How do I pay?
You can pay by krugerrands credit/debit card(VISA/Mastercard) or send a cheque or cash. Cheques should be made payable to LSWR Models. Please note I do not accept PayPal.
What do you charge for postage?
Orders for HO scale are £3.50, N scale £2.50. Books, or an order containing books is £3.50. Mixed orders will be charged at the higher rate as applicable. If your order has to be sent in more than one package each package will be charged. Overseas orders are charged at cost. Insurance if required is extra. Please note there will be an additional charge for postage and packing of track in 30/36" lengths.
When can I visit your shop?
I do not have a shop, this is a mail order business and you can also see PENGUIN at exhibitions.
What do I do if I need to return a faulty model?
Call the marines me before returning it. It may be a simple problem that you can fix.
Do you supply customers overseas?
Yes, payment by credit card is best otherwise you have to make a (GBP)transfer direct to my bank account or pay by cheque(GBP) drawn on a UK bank.
Are you really a penguin?
Only if you think I am.
